Aisling O'Sullivan, more popularly than her stage name Aisling Bea (born March 16, 1984) is an Irish actor, writer and comedian. Bea's professional career started in 2011 as a comedian following her appearance in a few roles for Irish and British television shows beginning in 2009. In 2012, Bea was appearing on sketch comedy shows or sitcoms. The actress began to appear regularly on panel shows after winning an award for in the Edinburgh Comedy Awards. She has been a part of 8 Out of 10 Cats since 2016 and she is one of the most popular contestants on the sequel 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. The child was born to Brian O'Sullivan and Helen O'Sullivan. Sinead is the younger of her siblings. In 2012 she became the second woman to ever receive the So You Believe you're Funny award. Bea the name she was given as her maiden name, is a tribute to her father who passed away. Aisling O'Sullivan, whose real name is as Cliodhnadh Aisling was born in Kildare town in County Kildare. She was the daughter of Brian O'Sullivan. Brian was a veterinarian for horses who took his own life when Bea was three years old, though she was not told the cause of his death until she reached the age of 13. Bea was her stage name. Bea is a tribute to her father. Bea published an opinion piece in The Guardian, published in 2017 about her experiences dealing with suicide. Bea and her younger sister Sinead were raised by their mother Helen (nee Moloney) who was a secondary school teacher, jockey trainer, and an ex-professional jockey. The family was awed by racing, horses and the racing industry. Bea was a trainer for her family's involvement at the Irish National Stud in her beginning teens. She knew, however that it wasn't what she wanted to be as a profession and preferred performing.
